What
is Woodfiring? Woodfiring is a transformative process much like life itself. The Wood Burning Kiln is a brutal environment. Flames and Ash swirl around the pottery at over 2,400 degrees Farenheight and leave their mark on the urn's surface. The pieces are fired anywhere from 24 to 100 hours or more while the fire rages around them. The pieces that emerge from a woodfiring are blessed with individual marks from the fire that are never the same twice. These marks that show the transformation by fire give the pieces their strength, beauty and personality, much like life. It is our trials and tribluations that transform us and give us our strength of character and inner beauty. Woodfiring is a testament to the human spirit, and the pieces that emerge from a wood kiln will never, in fact, can never be duplicated. Each one is a unique piece of art, just like all of us.
